Mirror acrylic is a single sided lightweight and strong material with a reflective mirror backing. It boasts outstanding resistance to ageing, making the material an ideal alternative to glass for many applications. An extremely versatile material, acrylic is one of the most widespread plastics in everyday use. The material is used for arts and crafts, DIY projects, splashbacks, partitions, screens, wall protection, retail displays, signs and so much more.
Important: Please be advised that acrylic mirror is flexible therefore if the mirror is not 100% flat there will be a distortion in the reflection. If mounting to an uneven surface, we would advise that the material is first bonded/fixed to a flat surface like a solid piece of mdf or thick ply. When bonding, ensure the mirror adhesive is applied evenly.
Outdoor Use: The mirror backing can be affected from continuous exposure to moisture therefore we do not recommend acrylic mirror for outdoor use. If used outside, we would suggest the perimeter is sealed with a silicon sealant to help keep moisture out and protect the mirror backing. Salt spray can also have an adverse effect on the mirror backing.
Acrylic can sometimes be referred to as Perspex®, Plexiglas®, Lucite®, Altuglas®, Acrycast® or Policril®. These are simply brand names of acrylic, much like Hoover® is with regards to vacuum cleaners.
Tolerance: Extruded acrylic has an industry standard thickness tolerance of +/-3%.
